HIGHLIGHTS

A JOURNEY OF EDUCATION & CULTURE

APII ARAURA, AITUTAKI, CI

The first day, the welcome experience from the Ararua school.

The celebrations of the four Ariki, by the all the schools.

The celebration for the whole island on Friday, starting with the church, the service in front of the post office and the bringing of the four Ariki that was led by a traditional dance and chant to where they held the breakfast.

Being able to interact in a school from an island with an immersed culture in the school.

Getting to know the MCS staff a little more outside of school and in different settings. Positive and respect for each other.

Gaining more confidence in myself and my teaching. Acquiring a new understanding of everyone and who they are also.

The waka ama experience, the fiafia night with the cultural performances and the coming together of the community and the visitors.

Seeing the passion and love the students, teachers, and locals had for the place where they lived.

Making new friends with some of Junior's staff.

It was relaxing and I was happy to see the students excited to be at school and enjoying what they were learning.
